ACFW – Are you ready?

I’m at American Christian Fictions Writers Conference in St. Louis, Missouri this week. The place where writers and authors are gathering to learn craft and pitch their stories. For those that are yet unpublished, the anxiety before pitching can be crushing and the stress intense.

I remember my first time walking into a room of writers waiting to pitch. While most were friendly I couldn’t escape just how anxious many of them were. But then again, that year I didn’t pitch a story.

TEE Explains: Why Do Editors (Not) Hate Writers?

Editors do not hate writers. Really. We don’t. Hate is such a strong word. So let’s make sure we apply it correctly, shall we? We hate misspelled words. Especially when we open a Word document and the word has a squigglyline underneath it that is Word’s way of saying, “Hey! I think you misspelled this word! You wanna’ check this?” And, obviously, you didn’t. We hate really long sentences that contain enough words to fill an unabridged dictionary and that, if you tried to read it, would cause an asthmatic to reach for her inhaler, and that sometimes, but not always, contain an overabundance of punctuation, but not always. Merry Christmas!

Susan and I want to wish all of you a very, merry Christmas. We’ve had a blast doing the blog this past year and meeting with many of you at conferences, or chatting in email. Your individual notes and comments to us have been a great encouragement. Those who have been clients, we do appreciate you and pray good things for you writing! For everyone’s writing. The publishing industry may be making changes as the economy quakes, but our God is not surprised or caught off guard. He’s well aware and even better, in control.
