Get Your Twitter On!

I’ve already posted on how to utilize Twitter and Tweetdeck on this blog so today I want to talk about how to Tweet effectively. As Twitter has gained popularity it’s become harder to stand out in the crowd. But with a little Twitter Tweaking, you can encourage new folks to visit your site. First, and MOST IMPORTANT, utilize hashtags. A hashtag (#) makes the letters following it searchable within the Twitter universe—even if the person searching doesn’t follow you. For example, when I tweet about My Book Therapy I utilize two hastags—#write and #MyBookTherapy. Important Note: When you space, the hashtag ends. That’s why I wrote out #MyBookTherapy with NO spaces. Second, be creative when you compose your tweets. Avoid the tired old tweet, “Check out my newest blog post.” […]

Fighting Fear: Winning the War at Home devotional book

A Note from Susie May: When I was reading this devotional, I thought of how helpful it might be, not just for those who have loved ones deployed, but for those with any family away from home.  (and I thought of my parents, when we were missionaries).  A powerful devotional to help in every challenge of life – a reminder that God is always there, always holding us.  Edie’s writing will minister to those seeking peace in challenging times.   About the Book: Having a son at war was not something Edie Melson ever thought she’d have to face. Learn the Basics of Google Plus

I know a lot of you are fed up with Facebook. But it’s important to realize that even though there are new options on the social media frontier, most of your fans are still on Facebook. Most important—upload a […]

Building Your Own Facebook Landing Page Using Free Templates

As I’ve mentioned before, a landing page is a critical component for a successful Facebook fan page. Although you may have to invest a couple of hours, it’s well worth the effort. There are several different place you can go to develop your page. The two I’ve found easiest are Wix (www.wix.com)  and Pagemodo (http://www.pagemodo.com/?r=free_footer).   Both of these offer free and subscription based options. I used Wix for my author landing page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Edie-Melson/212307145501921?sk=wall) and Pagemodo for the landing page for Fighting Fear: Winning the War at Home (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fighting-Fear-Winning-the-War-at-Home/210008849071555?sk=wall). I wanted the opportunity to try out both and see if one offered a better product than the other. You can visit both pages and see for yourself the two different looks they offered.   I found them to be very […]
