Showers of Creativity Part Two: Trust Your Creativity

If you have read the Bible, perhaps you have read the verse that tells us God has given to each of us a measure of faith. Some people confuse faith and trust. We all have at least a tiny bit of faith. Trust, however, must be earned. For you to trust anyone, they must first show themselves trustworthy. That holds true with your own creativity as well. You have to step out in your gifts and experience a successful outcome in order for you to trust those strengths. Trusting in your gifts is essential to your success, so you know what I’m going to say. Time to step out. Scary proposition? Let me help. Here are a few things I’ve learned about using my faith to step out to live […]

Showers Of Creativity, Part One: Created in the Image

This month we’re going to journey through showers of creativity. We will look at what that means to you personally and how you can use it for your success, and the benefit of those who will be reading your books. I have to stifle a giggle when people tell me they just aren’t creative. I know that simply isn’t even remotely true. All of us—even those Doubting Thomas family members—were created in the image of God. And God is The Creator. It’s literally impossible for you to not have creativity. I’m a very creative person but if you know what’s good for you, you will NOT trust me to plan your wedding or even a party for you. You’ll wind up with bags of Doritos, paper plates and cans of […]

Don’t be Fooled, Part Four: Fooled Me Twice

Ever heard the old saying, “fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me?” You’d think we would learn from our mistakes but those I coach report they seem to go around the same mistakes over and over again like they are on an emotional carrousel. I’ve done it myself more times than I care to admit. If we continue to make the same mistakes over and over again, it can be damaging to our emotional health in many ways. Here are a few: 1)    We conclude we are in some way incapable. If we continue to fall into the same hole, it has a way of telling us we were meant to be in the hole. 2)    We learn to accept living in the hole. When […]

Don’t Be Fooled Part Three: Driven by What’s Inside

A few years ago Subaru came up with a commercial slogan: Driven by What’s Inside. It made a snappy twenty second spot on TV but that message is not even remotely unique. Since the beginning of time mankind has always been driven by what’s inside. Your thoughts, beliefs, environment and experiences all provide the fuel for your little engine that should. I coach individuals who have been given a tankful of sugar water. Their emotional engine spat and sputtered until it completely stopped dead in the middle of their road to success. They watch helplessly as others speed by them at lightning speed, seemingly without a care in the world. The only thing they can do is be towed in and have their engine overhauled. Because we are all driven […]
