Being a confident heroine

This week we’ll be talking about heroine’s, so we thought we’d start off with a little encouragement to the heroine within each one of us. Did you know love is the most powerful force we can possess? International speaker Mike Bickle says, “there’s no force more powerful than a loved woman.” Or, one who is confident in love. Think about it. It’s true. All of our weaknesses and insecurities are rooted in self doubt, wondering if we are accepted and loved. Too often we look to people for this affirmation of love. People fail us. Even those closest to us will disappoint and let us down. There is only one way to be confident in love. Finding your source and identity in Jesus. In Genesis 15:1, God told Abraham, “I […]

What shall I fear?

“Mom, can you read this?” I look up, and there is my 16 year old, holding his newest chapter to the book he’s writing. He gives me a tentative smile, and I know I need to ask the question: “As your mother….or as an editor?” Let’s face it – it’s scary to write a book. We should all look for ways to minister to one another. After all, Jesus commands us in John 15 to love one another. However, we also have a Noble theme, purpose, before the Lord. He’s given us access to Him through His son, Jesus. We are not longer veiled ones, kept outside the inner room, but we […]

Starting your journey with the right focus

Happy Monday! I hope you’re as excited about starting a journey with our hero as I am! This week, we’re going to be studying PREMISE – It’s that blurb that tells us what kind of journey the reader will take with our hero. It involves stakes, and hopes, and most of all, a happy ending. Just as our hero is on a journey, we are also, as writers. And today, we’re going to start the idea of premise by asking…what are the elements of a successful journey? We talked about practical elements, like prioritizing our time, and keeping a journal. More important, however, is our perspective. I’d like to share with you a few things I’ve learned on my writing journey. I love Psalm 16. (and I’m not going to […]
