There will be no voting about the Inciting Incident. Because, well, I want to surprise you. First, the Voices have come up with some incredible inciting incidents, and part of the problem is…well, they’re so good I want to use bits of and piece of many of them. I can’t break them apart to vote on. But, Secondly (and I’m writing this as I’m getting my weekly Grey’s fix), this is a teaching blog (hospital) and while it’s great for you all to scrub in along the way, hold the scalpel, and even do the procedures, (and probably some even better than we would!) someone needs to be the attending. To use their experience to sort of guide us all in the right direction. Which means me, and Rachel. […]

I’m making an executive decision.
Live vs. Truth = Spiritual Epiphany
Does my hero HAVE to believe in a lie? We get this question sometimes when we’re working with clients in a Book Therapy session. Clients have done so much work creating the character, trying to figure out who he is, and it just seems like another mindless question. It’s not. In fact, I build my characters on just a few key questions, the most important ones that comprise our lives. You’ve seen some of them in this process…greatest fears, greatest dreams, values, motivations. The Lie They Believe is one of the essential questions that threads throughout the entire book. Without the lie, you don’t know what the truth is you’re aiming for. Without the lie, you don’t know how he/she builds their lives, what their view on […]
Read the RestWe have faces and names!
Our hero looks like….Dylan Bruno! (And if you ever want to see this actor in action, check him out on Numbers, Friday nights!) His name is…Luke. I love that name. Jaxon and Caleb came in close seconds…which means, if we can, we’ll use those names for secondary characters. =). Our heroine looks like: Isla Fisher! (If you’re wondering where you’ve seen her face before…check out the new Shopaholic movie!) And her name will be…MacKenzie! We’ll have to see if our hero ends up calling her Mac..or Kenzie…or…??? Mia came in second…she sounds like a good friend for MacKenzie. So, so there we have it….faces, and names for our hero and heroine! In the meantime, don’t forget to hop over to Club Book Therapy and add your VOICE to the Inciting […]
Read the RestWhat do they look like? Pick the faces and names of our lead characters!
We’ve finally reached the place were we get to choose what our hero and heroine look like! We’ve had a lively discussion the last couple weeks on Voices, and I went through and listed all the heroes and heroine suggestions — great suggestions! However, we could pick from ten, so I picked ten of each. If you want to look back at the bios of our hero and heroine before you vote, go here. Then, pick their names. Again, I took these from our discussion. When you’re done don’ t forget to stop by Voices and add your ideas for the Inciting Incident and the Epiphany! (look for the discussions: Lies vs. Truth, and Inciting Incident) Vote! Every Voice counts. (Keep scrolling — there are four polls!) Online Surveys & Market Research […]
