Get Your Twitter On!

I’ve already posted on how to utilize Twitter and Tweetdeck on this blog so today I want to talk about how to Tweet effectively. As Twitter has gained popularity it’s become harder to stand out in the crowd. But with a little Twitter Tweaking, you can encourage new folks to visit your site. First, and MOST IMPORTANT, utilize hashtags. A hashtag (#) makes the letters following it searchable within the Twitter universe—even if the person searching doesn’t follow you. For example, when I tweet about My Book Therapy I utilize two hastags—#write and #MyBookTherapy. Important Note: When you space, the hashtag ends. As she tries to regain her memory and slowly steps into her role as a wife and mother, Eli helps her readjust to daily life with sometimes-hilarious, sometimes-heartwarming results. But can she fall in love […]

But today I’m fast-forwarding to that final draft, that last bit of polish and shine. (Don’t you wish it were possible?) When you run your editorial fingers through your manuscript one last time, do you even consider fine-tuning your mechanics? Most writing contests have a category rating your spelling, punctuation and grammar skills. And even if mechanics isn’t an actual category, submitting a contest entry without typos, […]

Fabulous Fiction Friday: Shadows On The Sand

Carrie Carter’s small café in Seaside, New Jersey, is populated with an interesting collection of locals although Carrie only has eyes for Greg Barnes. He’s recovering from a vicious crime that three years ago took the lives of his wife and children, rebuilding his life one painful step at a time. While her heart does a happy Snoopy dance at the sight of him, he never seems to notice her, to Carrie’s chagrin.   When Carrie’s dishwasher is killed and her young waitress disappears, Greg finds himself drawn into helping Carrie solve the mysteries and into her life. But Carrie has a painful past, too, and when the reason she once ran away shows up in town, the fragile relationship she’s built with Greg threatens to implode from the […]
