Writing takes great courage – sure, we can spend hours in our room typing out a story, but when we emerge, we have to show it to the world.

He or she will say, “I can’t” yet their behavior clearly will show mastery of the denied skill.

Anyhow, today I’d like to play matchmaker. See, here at My Book Therapy, I think we have a plethora of potential relationships ready to bloom … between Voices and the MBT Frasier Contest.

The Love Inspired Historical line offers captivating stories of romance and adventure set in earlier eras, when faith played a major role in everyday lives.

It helps me write the emotions behind a character who’s experiencing one of these moments.

Though they were not my typical college audience, they were receptive, permeable, real—like open-mouthed baby birds. How could I not get keep coming?

Writing takes an investment in time and money to be successful, but you also need to invest in relationships, if for no other reason than to let you know you’re not an island, but a continent connected to other writers who understand the sting of rejection, the excitement of muse, and the thrill of the first sale.

Community is not in the similarities of the faces, or “Voices,” if you will. But in our willingness to drop the mask, be who we are, and love those around us.

But woven through all the time of study — and there was a whole lot of learning going on — relationships were built.
