One of the best decisions I ever made was trusting my friend Lisa Jordan with my dream to start an e-zine for writers. A true friend is the kind who sees your vision and helps you see it happen!
Writers need to surround themselves with these kind of people, those who believe in our dreams. The writing business is hard enough without having people discourage you.
I’m thrilled with the theme this year, Trust. I’ve long believed that trust is the one area writers struggle with the most. After all, once we get our manuscript done, it seems we have to trust everyone – our agent, our editor, our publicist, even our readers. And when they let us down … well, ultimately we have to trust God, don’t we? And only then can we “overflow with all joy and peace,” as Romans 15:13 says.
What a superb issue awaits you! From hints on how to handle the angst of contests, our life-coach’s encouragement on how to trust your dream, to building a “safety net” of supporters, you’ll find information on how to strengthen your trust muscles.
You’ll also find some hints on how to strengthen your writing muscles – like Genre Java on historical fiction, and a fascinating exploration of the narcissistic character, as well as how Twitter can be your friend. Really.
I’m so excited about our new columns, also, like the new technical column by our tech-wizard Jennie Atkins, and her invite to help her cover the issues that plague you the most with your writing. So glad we have this new resource! And I can’t get enough of the fabulous insights into the male mind from Matthew Sheehy. I can see this will be an enormously popular column.
Don’t forget to meet Winter Peck, our newly published MBT author. A delightful Voice (and I love her hat!) And I love the healthy tricks Alena, our retreat hostess, offers in her Writing and Wellness column. It’s important to strengthen our bodies so we can stay in shape to write. (Really!)
Don’t miss our featured fiction, the Frasier contest information, and the new Voices e-zine writers guidelines so that you can submit your article to the e-zine!
We are about earning your trust at MBT. Thank you for letting us in your writing lives. Enjoy.
